Dear Families,
I am writing on 9-11, a day we remember great tragedy in our country to address violence that we witnessed as a nation on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.
While speaking at a college campus in Utah, political commentator and social media influencer Charlie Kirk was fatally shot. Video of the shooting has circulated online, and it’s possible that many of our students may have viewed it.
Additionally, there was a shooting at Evergreen High School in Colorado, in which at least two students were critically injured.
We understand that our students and families may be experiencing a range of emotions in the aftermath of these terrible events. Please know that support is available. Our school counselors are ready to meet with any student who may need assistance processing their feelings. Anyone who needs support is encouraged to visit the counseling office at any time.
Events like what are mentioned above are the reason we continue to practice and update emergency response protocol. We continue to keep our facilities locked during the day and thank you for your patience and support in the modified access to our buildings for the safety of students and staff.
Now more than ever, it is important for us to model kindness and respect in our words and actions. Together, we can foster a sense of belonging and strength in our community.
Thank you for your support during this difficult time for our country and please reach out if we can be of assistance to you or your child.
Sincerely,
Kevin Grover - Superintendent

Thank you to Ricky White, staff, and alumni that participated in our back to school activities. Great way to see how our relationships impact students beyond what we may realize! Go Greenwave!
🍕 Take the night off and let Deek’s Pizza do the cooking for you! On Wednesday, August 27th, 100% of the day’s proceeds at Deek’s will go directly to support East Grand Forks and Grand Forks Public Schools.
