Statewide Tornado Drills

Thursday's emergency preparedness topic is tornados. Statewide tornado drills will take place on Thursday, April 16 at 1:45 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. Outdoor warning sirens will sound in a simulated tornado warning. The 1:45 p.m. drill is intended for schools, businesses, and other organizations and will be observed by our district during the school day. The evening drill at 6:45 p.m. is intended for families and community members. This is a great opportunity for schools to review emergency plans with students and staff and encourage families to discuss severe weather safety and preparedness at home.

Public Schools Week is a reminder that public education is about more than buildings or classrooms—it’s about people.

Public education represents opportunity, belonging, and the shared commitment to ensure every child has the chance to learn, grow, and succeed.

It is made possible by the dedication of our teachers and staff who inspire students each day, and by the families and caregivers who support and champion their children’s education.

Thank you to the people, partnerships, and possibilities that make public schools the heart of our community. ❤️
