EGF Fire Department

The EGF Fire Department and NCTC Fire Technology Program will be offering a Junior Firefighter Academy to any interested current juniors and seniors.  The academy will be offered on Tuesday evenings from 6:00-9:00 pm from May 2nd-July 18th (no class July 4).  There is a total of 9 sessions. Students will receive high school academy credit for completing this program.

We will hold an informational meeting this next Wednesday, April 26th during the 1st FLEX (11:25-11:55) for all interested students (and parents/guardians are invited too!!) in Room 195.  Hunter Olson and Nick Derrick, EGF firefighters, will be here to share information.  Weekly sessions will cover turnout gear, loading hoses, hydrants, CPR training, forcible entry, ropes, knots, harnesses, ladders, ventilation, search and rescue, fire attack, and auto extrication.  There will be a graduation ceremony on the final night of July 18th.

Space is limited to 10 on a first come-first-served basis (including Sacred Heart students).  There is paperwork to complete, and I will have all of this available in my office and in the counseling office.  Please see me for more information or questions between now and next Wednesday.  This is an amazing opportunity, and I am so grateful to our fire department for putting this together for our students.  There is no cost for this program and all gear and equipment will be provided.
