Upcoming Event: Seatbelt and Smiles Initiative
As we continue working together to keep our students safe, we’re excited to share an upcoming initiative. The Polk County Toward Zero Deaths Coalition is partnering with our local schools to bring a positive safety campaign called “Seatbelt & Smiles” to our drop-off and pick-up areas.
On Thursday, April 23 in the morning, coalition members, law enforcement, and other volunteers will be present looking for drivers and passengers who are buckled up and practicing safe habits like hands-free driving—and rewarding those good choices with a smile, a thank-you, or even a small prize. This initiative is all about encouragement—not enforcement. There will be no tickets or warnings.

She’s responsible and always one of the first students to get her materials out or help clean up the room at the end of the day. Way to be a role model in our classroom!"

Avery noticed that we provide snacks for some of our students and wanted to help make a difference. His kindness, compassion, and initiative are truly appreciated. Parents, please remind your student to check the Lost and Found table and claim any items that may belong to them. Families are also welcome to stop in and take a look. We currently have a wide variety of items, including hats, gloves, snow pants, boots, and sweatshirts.

World Down Syndrome Day is a time to celebrate differences, promote inclusion, and remind our students that everyone belongs. March 21 marks this important day, offering a wonderful opportunity to spread kindness, build awareness, and embrace what makes each of us unique 🩵💛

"Today during intervention one of Brock's classmates/friend won a class game and he cheered him on and clapped for him. Even though he didn't win, he still supported his peers and was happy for them. Brock has been a great leader in intervention time. He shows respect and makes positive choices."
