Pederson's Primary Points Newsletter for December

The winter months are here!  Make sure your child has winter weather gear.  ALL students need to have a hat, mittens (no knit finger gloves), scarf, face mask, jacket, snow pants and boots for school every day.  If your child doesn't have the proper outdoor gear, they may have to stay on the basketball court area during recess time.  If you are unable to acquire the necessary gear - please call me at 773-0908.  I would be happy to assist you with this need.  If you have any gently-used winter outdoor wear, please drop off at New Heights.

Parent/Teacher conferences were again a huge success.  Many classrooms had 100% attendance.  Thank you for caring and sharing with us.

Turkey Bingo is always a huge success!!  The funds gathered from that evening help support numerous student centered projects through the Elementary PTO organization.  Turkey Bingo would not succeed without without your support at the event.

The Scholastic Book Fair was held during Turkey Bingo.  This event also supports all learners at New Heights. Your purchases go a long way to secure great books for students.

When using the loop for drop off - please pull up as far forward as possible - even if the loop is empty when you drive forward it provides space for the next vehicles.  Thanks!  Do not exit your vehicle.  As a goal for January please help us build independence with your child by allowing them to enter the building by themselves in the morning.  Students should be acclimated to their morning routine and be able to navigate themselves.

Are you a local American farmer who has a deserving school district in mind?  The Grow Rural Education entry period for nominations closes on April 1.  Some school districts have been nominated for a $10,000 or $25,000 grant, please submit your application by April 15. Please check out the site for information.

We have had Safe Route to Schools conduct education regarding safe drop-off and pick-up procedures.  Also how to safely cross the streets surrounding New Heights.  Safe Drop-Off happens on the right - passenger side of the vehicle.  Please visit with your child about this information for reinforcement and practice.

New Heights is participating in the School Mall Program again this year.  We are able to receive funds for items you regularly can order on-line!  Information was sent home with your child in November.  There is a special prize "The Golden Ticket" yet to be claimed. Please register.  It would be great for a New Heights family to win.

No School: Dec. 23-Jan. 1   **Come back on Jan. 2
