Greetings EGF Families and Staff Members,
The official EGF ISD 595 School Re-Entry Plan and start of school year model were approved by the EGF ISD 595 Board of Education on August 17, 2020. Please go to 2020-21 EGF ISD 595 School Re-Entry Plan to access the approved plan. The Re-Entry Plan is a fluid document that will be updated when guidance from federal, state and local agencies is adjusted. The Board of Education formally approved starting the 2020-21 school in the "In-Person" model for grades K-5 and "Hybrid" model for grades 6-12.
MN school districts were directed to start the planning process for three different scenarios (in-person, hybrid and distance learning) earlier this summer. Governor Walz announced on July 30, 2020 that districts would need to use county level COVID-19 case number data and consult with local public health officials when determining the best model for returning to school this fall. He also announced that there would be five possible scenarios instead of three where a focus was placed on trying to get younger students in front of their teachers on a regular basis. The decision making guidance used by school districts can be found on the first two pages on the Re-Entry Plan. Based on the latest area data, district leaders are recommending the in-person model for grades PK-5 and hybrid model for grades 6-12, which is the second entry level (10-19 cases per 10,000) listed in the guidance.
Please take a little time to read the approved Re-Entry Plan and feel free to reach out to district leaders if you have any questions, comments or concerns. Questions can be submitted for review by going to EGF ISD 595 Re-Entry Plan Q & A Form. District leaders will attempt to answer as many of the questions as possible and post them on the District website.
THANK YOU for all of your efforts! It is going to take a real TEAM effort to make the 2020-21 school year a success and I am thankful for my teammates!
